Establish strategies to develop a network to monitor and predict changes in bat distribution and inform future management and policy
Action leader: Ms Daniela Hamidović
The work will focus on those species likely to be most responsive to climate change across Europe (indicator species) and establish areas where such species are likely to gain, lose or maintain suitable climatic space.
We will establish a monitoring network involving researchers and stakeholders from all over Europe and will select the best approaches to monitor changes in distributions and population status.
Strategies to collect and share data on demographic variables from bats, will also be evaluated since these can provide useful early warnings of conservation problems, and therefore be used to prompt interventions.
The facilitation of interactions between scientists and stakeholders, and the building of capacity for bat monitoring across Europe, are important elements of this project..
