Xavier is a researcher at the Granollers Natural Sciences Museum and vice-secretary of the Spanish Association for the Conservation and Research of Bats. He has been the coordinator of the National Cave Bat Monitoring of Spain, and has been involved in creating the regional Red Lists for bats of Catalonia. He currently coordinates the Catalan Bat Monitoring scheme. Part of his work is focused on the ecosystem services bats provide in agroecosystems. He has created the regional network ‘Eco-bats’ of farmers that promote the presence of bats in their farms, thus raising public awareness and compiling data to understand better the role bats play in integrated pest management.
