Vida is a member of Croatian Biospeleological Society and, as an ecologist, she has a broad interest in conservation and protection of wildlife, especially bats. Her research has included monitoring of maternity colonies and hibernation roosts, parasite distribution studies, monitoring and sampling for rabies and other viruses, and conducting baseline monitoring studies, mainly based on acoustics surveys. Her more specific interest lies in the roosting ecology of bats, their diseases and parasites. She is also mentoring young students from a Biology Student Association in Croatia – BIUS and helping them to gain knowledge and skills for different bat research. She is also involved in raising public awareness about bats, and their need for protection, through numerous workshops, talks, and social media.
