Sasan is a Senior Scientist at Research Institute of Wildlife Ecology of Veterinary Medicine University of Vienna, Austria. His main research interests are wildlife health, conservation medicine and wildlife disease monitoring, Wildlife disease ecology and eco-immunology. He has a veterinary and virology background, and is currently working on bat diseases and pathogens in Austria and several other countries, through extensive collaboration with NGOs, bat conservation societies, researchers and rehabilitation centres. He is the regional coordinator of IUCN Wildlife Health Specialist Group for West & Central Asia, coordinator of WESCA-Wildlife Network, member of WAB-Net, UNEP/EUROBATS and WESCA bat specialist groups.
