Panagiotis is a post-doctoral researcher at the Natural History Museum of Crete, University of Crete. He has been studying bat ecology, distribution, acoustics and systematics in Greece and Cyprus since 2001. He is the co-developer and manager of the National Database of Greek Bats, which contains more than 10,000 historical and recent records. He has been involved in several research and conservation projects, contributing (among others) to the Red Data Book of the Endangered Animals of Greece, The Handbook of European Mammals (in preparation) and European Bat Calls book. He is the Scientific Focal Point of Greece to UNEP/Eurobats and has been a member of the IUCN Chiroptera Specialist Group and the managing board of the Hellenic Zoological Society.
