Luísa works at the Portuguese Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests. She coordinates the National monitoring programme of cave-dwelling bats and promotes the management of bat roosts. She recently collaborated in the Habitats Directive Report on Article 17 (2013-2018), regarding bats. Presently she is working on a project to get data on terrestrial mammals for the revision of the Portuguese Red Data Book and for the preparation of the next Habitats Directive Report (2019-2024). She is the Portuguese Focal Point to EUROBATS, and she coordinates the Intersessional Working Group on Wind Turbines and Bat Populations.
