Esra is Assistant Professor of Geomatics Engineering in the field of Remote Sensing at Karadeniz Technical University in Trabzon, Turkey. She pursued her PhD at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, in the University of Bristol, in UK. She is working with optical and Radar satellite images, specifically with Hyperspectral (HSI) and Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) images. Both HSI and SAR systems are used in land monitoring to provide rapid, cost-effective assessments of land use, and to create land cover maps for forest and urban areas. She is also interested in developing new algorithms in (multi-source) image fusion algorithms to increase the classification accuracy.
