Clare is an Associate Professor of Animal Physiology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. Her research group investigates how animals cope physiologically and behaviourally with the energetic challenges they face regularly in their environment, such as a shortage of food and water resources or extreme weather. Specifically, her group works both in the field and laboratory on questions relating to thermal physiology, metabolism, energy management, stress, activity and behaviour. Her main study species are small mammals, in particular bats. Her goal is to employ the physiological information collected to develop more robust predictive models and to help inform conservation practices.
